I Remember Love

The Social Network for Dog Lovers

A favorite poem of mine....The last 2 verses were in my husband's final words to Mouta...her eulogy, I guess you would say, but read just before we sent her on..

A Dog for Jesus
(Where dogs go when they die)

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.

It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.
With no tender dog following close behind,
To comfort its Master’s Heart.

And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog kissed His hand and barked it’s delight,
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine,
The old pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing they’re in eternity.

Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said, “Wait, I’m coming with you!”
And trotted along behind.

First of all, if you haven't seen "God and DoG", you Must! Just go to Wendyfrancisco.com and click on the "God and Dog" video. It's life changing.

Next I'd like to relate a little story that I love. I've heard it a few times, but this is my favorite version.

"The Old Man and The Dog" author unknown
An man was walking down a long and winding road, his faithful dog keeping pace at his side. After many miles he suddenly realized that he must have died -- for here was the beloved dog he had lost many years ago, as fit and healthy as he'd been in his youth, tail wagging, walking happily beside him. This thought brought a smile to the man's heart and after petting his dog, he went on, unafraid.

Soon they came to a smoothly paved drive which led up to towering gates gleaming as if they were gold. A neatly robed figure stood by the gates, staff in hand and nodded cordially as he approached.

"Excuse me," he said to the Gatekeeper, "Could you tell me, what is this place?"

"Why this is Heaven,” the Gatekeeper told him. “If you will just step inside, someone will meet you with water to refresh you after your journey, and then they will show you around.”

“Can they bring some water for my companion also?” the man asked, gesturing at his dog, who was a bit dusty by then and obviously thirsty.

“Oh no,” the Gatekeeper replied. “He cannot enter. No dogs are allowed in Heaven.”

The man thought for but a moment, and calling his dog to his side he headed back to the main road and continued his journey.

A short time later they came upon an open gate, a simple wooden gate opening onto a beautiful but humble farmstead. A man was leaning against the shed inside the gate, occupied in carving something out of wood.

“Pardon me,” the man said. “But might you have some water, the road is long and I am thirsty.”

“Certainly,” the farmer said. “There’s a ladle on the edge of that well over there, and there’s also a bowl for your friend’s water.”

After the man and his dog had enjoyed their refreshing drink, he turned back to his new acquaintance. “Could you tell me please, what is this place?”

“Why this is Heaven.” The Farmer smiled.

“But that place back there, “ he pointed , “they said that that was Heaven. I’m quite confused!”

“You mean the place with the big gold gates?” The man nodded.

The Farmer chuckled. “That place is Hell.” He said, “We just let them screen out those folks who would leave their best friends behind.”

And the man and his dog walked on into Heaven and lived happily ever after.
The End (and the Beginning)

The video is good too. I've seen it before as well.
