I'm praying for all the doggies who aren't feeling well or who may be struggling with serious issues. I understand because we lost our Buster (black lab) a year and 1/2 ago, and my Louie III (black standard poodle) last March. I miss them and I love…
I am a Music Therapist by education with an undergraduate degree in vocal performance. I currently am the Manager for a late-stage Alzheimer's Memory Care Unit at a retirement community that offers the full range of care from Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing - which the Memory Care Unit is a part of.
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
We just adopted little Tillie. She belonged to one of my residents and was being cared for by the daughter who has 4 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats and a horse. When I found out they were looking for a good home for Tillie, my husband Kent and I decided it should be our home! Tillie goes with me to work and is a wonderful companion to all 28 residents. My standard poodle used to travel with me to many different elder-care facilities when I had my Music Therapy private practice. He was a calming influence for everyone he met. He will be 15 years old March 10. He's a soulmate and I feel blessed each day we have together.
Love these pics. Each of your pups reminds me of one of some of ours. And i wanted to invite you to join the "We Have Standards Group", and to introduce you to Amos.
I truly understand. I have my moments where I get teary eyed. Rio's birthday is May 23r4d and I know I will think of him more that day. I think of him just about everyday but my thoughts are shifted to the happy times and how lucky I was to have him as a pet. You should check out my Sweet Rio video. I wrote alot of Rio on this website. For me it was a way to comfort myself and grieve. I am very happy that I was able to write as much as I did on this website it helped me tremendously. Oliver is sleeping right now. I love his company and its so much fun being able to bring him to work. Take Care !
Strange that you received a do not reply. Oh well ! Sounds like this retreat is what you need. I am a firm believer that when things happen in our lives there is a reason for it. I also feel that when one door closes another one opens. In a way its like an opportunity is knocking on your door. Again, I must stress be positive. Going through a number of feelings is difficult. I understand how you feel about all the people you have helped as well as come to know very well. Its almost as if though you have not been appreciated. Its their lost not yours. You say that you will be able to utilize your gift as a Music Therapist / Singer with elders. I have a feeling a door will open when you meet with Lesley Nase. You mentioned Alzheimers in your email. My little Rio had doggie alzheimers. When we deal with this disease we see how it affects the person and also the people associated with the alzhemers patient. I know that I don't need to explain this since you dealt with this everyday.
Thank you about my father - just visited with him at home - getting better. He is a very positive man. Perhaps he instilled this in all his children. If you ever feel negative and those old feelings come back - shut them out. Take Care : )
