What are your dog(s) names and ages:
Lacy Faye 11 yrs. old, Sir Spike the Conqueror 9 yrs.old
What is your dog's breed? (If you have more than one dog, please list a name followed by breed.)
Lacy who is 10 lbs. & Spike who is 3 lbs. are Yorkshire Terriers. They are also mother and son.
About Me:
I live with my two dogs who are the best little companions. I took an early retirement because of health reasons and now am able to spend even more time with them. I can't imagine my life without them. I go out to dinner with friends and belong to a Red Hat Society here in my area.
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
My little dog Spike is only 3lbs. and he sits on my lap and stares right into my eyes, like he just adores me! No matter how bad he is, that always melts my heart. And I think he knows it!!

This is Scooter, he's a yorkie I rescued that was found on the streets of New York. When I got him, he had a broken tail, some missing teeth, kennel cough and cherry eye and a very bad attitude. On the way home with him, I thought. "What have I done, I have this stinky, mangie looking animal in the back of my car?" But I got home and fed him and gave him a bath, then sat on the kitchen floor cutting matts from his hair. I loved that little dog so much, he became a part of me. One year later he developed Conjestive Heart Failure and his lungs would fill up with fluid. I gave him medicine for it for quite awhile. I asked the Vet, "what should I do?" The Vet said, "Linda, you'll know when it's time, he'll let you know" I was soooo sad, every trip to the Vet. Then after having seizures and falling over, I came home from work one day and he didn't come to greet me at the door as usual. He was laying on the floor and couldn't get up. He was concious but just couldn't get up. As I bent down to pet him, I looked into his eyes and I knew, I just knew it was time. I had to take him to the Vet to be put down that day. I called my friend later to tell her and we cried and cried. I could still cry when I talk about him or think about him. The day before he chased a rabbit across the yard. Scooter was cremated.

Puppy Mills

I can't say enough about this problem with puppy mills. It just makes me want to cry when I think of all the animals that come into this world that people think they can inbreed and sell for lots of money, when the unknowing owners get these puppies and they are sick or have some deformity. Most of these "back yard breeders" sell to puppy stores. I would never buy a puppy unless it was from a reputable breeder and I knew where it came from, like bloodlines. I, personally, would rescue a dog firs… Continue

Hello Linda, good to hear from you again as always! I am doing better and have not gotten another dog, I'm not sure I will be ready for another for quite some time. But I am back on my feet and am now enrolled in the Air and Hospitality Acedemy here in Vancouver, WA. I have always dreamed of becoming a Flight Attendant and seen no better time as now. The quilt is still with me at times but I think it is getting better. I believe the Lord is watching over her and that brings me comfort.

Hello Linda, Thanks for writing and my apolagies to all for not writing soon , but I'm afraid I was not able to keep my Annie, and it has been so completely horrible without her. I do try and remeber your words of her forgetting and being a dog, but there is a part of me inside that feels so guilty and like so much of a bad person. I loved her so very much and now I am trying to deal with forgiving myself. I just pray everyday she is happy and loved and they are good to her. Again thanks Linda.

Hi Laurie,

I'm so sorry for your lose of family members. That is very hard, I know how I felt when I lost my mom.

The big picture I have on my page is the first dog I rescued. The really little guy is the next one I rescued and Lacy is his mother. I got her from a breeder who wanted to retire her from breeding.

I'll get back to you on the uploading of your photos.

Linda :)

Linda, thank you so much for your reply back, maybe you are right and I should rethink my decision. Annie is so loving and it hurts a great deal to think of being with out her, and my thoughts have often wondered what she would feel without me. I will not rush into anything at this moment, again thank you, your words are encouraging.
Trish
