prayers for pups who need them

When I first built this community website, www.IRememberLove.com, I didn't really know what to expect. So many people are reluctant to "join" a community online because of privacy issues.
Now, though, with almost no direct effort on my part, there are thousands of people using the site. Thousands more visit each day.

One of my favorite features is the forum Prayers for Pups.

There are 326 people who have joined this group so far, and the main page of the group has tons of requests for prayers (and responses).

When I posted a request for Maui last year in that group, the response was unbelievable. I hope that others who post there get as much comfort and support as I did.

Just about once a week I check it and add the dogs there to my prayer list. Whatever your thoughts or beliefs about prayer, it has been scientifically proven to help.

So please check out the forum now and send a little prayer or good thoughts for the doggies:

Comment by Roberta Oliviero on October 5, 2009 at 8:17pm: This morning I nearly lost a little rescue dog I found in the middle of a highway last Fall. Her name is Fluffy she is up in years but oh so sweet. My Saluki attacked her for some unknown reason and could easily have killed her except I have a great Vet who rushed in at 6AM to his hospital and spent the next 2 hours in surgery. So I am praying for all the dogs that are mentioned and the Vets who put so much effort into their welfare. Also for the folks who loose their beloved ones. God put Dogs on the earth to teach us unconditional Love and I believe our precious ones will be waiting for us when we get there.

Comment by elisse jo goldstein-clark on September 28, 2009 at 12:48pm: OF COURSE they have souls! Anyone who thinks not has never had a dog! When they sleep you can watch them dream; & sometimes when they look straight into my eyes it gives me the willies!
Our Tiger ran off the other day and we are going nuts with worry. Dan's been driving all over the mountain for days... Finally he was seen today, so we know he's alive, but he's apparently having Way too much fun and won't let anyone catch him! Please a prayer he gets home safe (or we can find & grab him) before he gets hurt!

Comment by Judi on September 19, 2009 at 7:45am: I too know the pain of saying goodbye to a pet. It is, in my estimate, the most difficult, heart-wrenching episode in one's life. I mean how to do you say goodbye to a dog that is looking at you with sad eyes knowing something is not right here and then they're gone. I too agree dogs have souls and if Heaven is the place of utterly peace and joy, then all of our dogs will be there waiting for us.

He was a very fun and spirited wirehaired fox terrier , who in in old age was still a friendly pooch, getting up to greet you until no longer able to do so! He was our youngest son's dog from the age of 3 until now and saw him off to college last month! Our entire family will miss the Bean as we called him. He is surely in dog heaven waiting for us all. Now our little Yorkie, Mochajava is all alone with us! We will cherish him all the more.

We try to pull as many dogs as possible every week, but without donations and foster homes we can't always save all that we want to. Please pray for their souls. Comment by Ann Mitchell on September 15, 2009 at 12:36pm: This may be a little different kind of prayer request. My five Shelties are asking for prayers for my husband who today has been told he has Prostrate Cancer. This is a recurrence of the Cancer he had Radiation therapy for 12 years ago.

Comment by Paula Samuels-Zijlstra on September 15, 2009 at 4:15am: Please say a prayer for Xena, she was diagnosed with Chronic Lymfocytic Leukemia about three weeks ago. She has been on chemotherapy tablets (chlorambucil) for about a week and a half now and started last Friday with a once a week treatment of Vincristine IV for four weeks. The survival rate for this type of cancer is not very good apparently, but she has been with us for 10 years now and we would love to have her with us a little longer. Especially because we lost our Odie last year at the age of 15. Xena is our first rescue and the best dog anyone could ever have (except Odie who was like the earth mother of all dogs). We still have Bobbie and Tuti, but having to face the fact that Xena might not be with us for very long, is very painful. Please include her in your prayers.
