Maui has passed on...

It is with a heavy heart that I
am writing to let you know that
Maui passed away today.

I thank you and everyone in our
community who has kept us in
your thoughts and prayers these
past few days.

I know that Maui was a little
part of a lot of people's lives.

I am going to disconnect from email
for a few days, but if you would
like to send your condolences or
words of support, please post a
comment below.

Please know that I will read all
of your kind messages when I
re-emerge sometime next week.

Again, many thanks for your
support and prayers this past week.
Molly and I (and most importantly,
Maui) felt them. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.

Don't grieve too long, for now I'm free.
I've followed the path God has set for me.
I ran to Him when I heard His Call.
I swished my tail and left it all.

To bark, to love, to romp or play.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

I was given this passage from the poem by my vet when my beloved Molly (beagle) and Rex (tabby cat) passed away in 2000. It is so comforting to know that you gave Maui a wonderful home on Earth. I am sooo sorry to hear the Maui is gone. She was such a sweet, adorable little girl and we will all miss her very much. Please remember all the good times you had together over the years and that she loved you very much. And thank you for sharing her with the rest of us. Even though we never met I'm sure I can speak for everyone in saying that we all felt like we knew her and she was a part of our families as well.

My daughter looked up in the clouds and said that the cloud looked like Bitsy playing with a ball. She said that it was a message to let us know that she was up in heaven running and playing like she hadn't done in years and was happy. Perhaps one day you will see your message in the clouds and feel peace; ▶ Reply to This

I am so sorry to here of Maui's journey here has ended. I have always believed that some dogs are angels sent here to guide us and lead us on a journey that sometimes we are not aware of at the time. Maui was your angel and what a journey she has shared with you. Her job here was done and as she has taken a piece of your heart with her, she has left hers with you, in time it will bring a smile and a warmth to your heart with all the wonderful memories.

Thank you for your comforting message. I am just blown away by the beauty of the messages that I am reading. I think I would be crying a lot more with out yours.

I thought I was through grieving he loss of my peekanoodle. But the grief I am feeling makes me think that I will never be completly over loss of my special friends even from my childhood. I know I will see them again, but I sure would love to be able to hold them again.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
