It is with a heavy heart that I
am writing to let you know that
Maui passed away today.
I thank you and everyone in our
community who has kept us in
your thoughts and prayers these
past few days.
I know that Maui was a little
part of a lot of people's lives.
I am going to disconnect from email
for a few days, but if you would
like to send your condolences or
words of support, please post a
comment below.
Please know that I will read all
of your kind messages when I
re-emerge sometime next week.
Again, many thanks for your
support and prayers this past week.
Molly and I (and most importantly,
Maui) felt them. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.
I am so very sorry, from the bottom of my heart, that you are going through this pain right now. Not too many words are comforting, and nothing I say is anything that you don't already know, so, just remember that God has Maui now, and Maui is no longer in any pain. She is reunited with her dog family if any of them are already in heaven, and she is waiting for you. Your love for your dog was so apparent and you have given so many people a place to join together. We all appreciate your time and caring for all dogs. Take care and I hope to connect back with you in a few days. In God's love, Jeri
Oh, I have tears. Didn't realize how much I loved you guys. My heart opens even more for you and your little love. Blessings and oodles of puppy kisses. suzanne
ohmigosh!! I am crying for you and Molly and know that I will miss Maui! she was such a wonderful little girl and so full of love....I will keep her in my heart forever!! thank you so much for sharing all her love with us on the internet! I will save all her pictures too.....it doesn`t matter if we think we will 'Handle it" when our loved ones leave this earth because the tears will come anyway...God bless you and yours and hold you tight! I love you too....
James and Molly, my heart and thoughts are with you. My Odie is 15 and not doing too well for about a week now, and I dread the thought of her passing away. I can't imagine what you're going through. Having a dog for a long time and then having to let go, is like having a piece of you missing. Maui is probably in Doggie Heaven having a good time now, and looking down on you and making sure that you're safe. She'll always be with you.
You have my deepest condolences; Know that she is in a wonderful place with lots and lots of other furbabies just like her. You gave her a wonderful life and she is forever grateful to you. You shared her grace, beauty and wisdom with all of us, and we will carry on her message of love and wisdom.
In sympathy,
Gail
I am so sorry to hear that Maui has crossed over, Molly and James.
while it is never easy to loose a beloved animal,
perhaps these words from a Franciscan Brother on the crossing of one of my dogs will be of comfort : "I think she is in a beautiful place with St. Francis where all of God's creation rejoices in the completed journey home. there really is an everlasting home for all whom God has created in love."

I'm so sorry to hear of Maui's passing. I just posted under prayers for Maui, not knowing she had already passed on.
It is such a hard thing to go through, but we all know you were there for her till the very end, and you did everything in your power to make her well and comfortable. She was truly a very lucky little dog to have you.
I have no doubt you will see her again when it is time for you to pass on. She'll run into your arms and lick your face with all the joy in her heart to finally be reunited with you. Until then, she'll be rocked in the loving arms of God.
Molly and James - Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the death of your beloved Maui. Please know that I am holding you in my heart. I am so sorry for your loss of your loyal companion. I wish you peace and healing. Adrienne
James & Molly -- One only has to read these posts to realize how many lives you and Maui have touched... A lasting legacy for one little dog, I think...
James and Molly, I am very new to this site, but so glad my friend Karin shared it with me. I am truly sorry about your loss. I now have my dog Belle, but still have my cat Daphne in my heart after 7 years of her passing. I am not sure how Maui passed, but maybe this will help you or others who have older dogs. Dogs are the best gift I think we have....from what I've read, Maui was more than the best. Know that Maui is now in peace.
We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that we are among a vast, deeply caring and compassionate community without borders that you and Maui were instrumental in creating, and that is part of her legacy.
We have learned through our work that when a painful loss occurs, our hearts close up, to protect the wound - it is part of the process. When our hearts are wounded, we have vision . . . but we do not "see", we have hearing . . . but we can not "listen", we touch . . . but we do not "feel". As our hearts begin to heal, and we open ourselves to those senses that were dulled by our loss, we see that our memories allow us to experience eternally, and with vivid clarity, the purest essence of the one we have lost . . . that they remain with us forever.
We would be honored if you would allow us to create a special memorial to Maui as our gift to you. You and she have brought enlightenment and joy to so many, and we would like to extend that comfort to you. There is a sampling of our work on our website at www.otrmemorials.com
With respect for your privacy, we will wait for you to contact us when you are ready - know that we are here whenever that time comes.
James & Molly,
I'm so sorry to hear that Maui has passed. It is so hard to loose a precious member of your family.I know you will see her again in heaven. All dogs DO go to heaven. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
