I Remember Love

The Social Network for Dog Lovers

It is with a heavy heart that I
am writing to let you know that
Maui passed away today.

I thank you and everyone in our
community who has kept us in
your thoughts and prayers these
past few days.

I know that Maui was a little
part of a lot of people's lives.

I am going to disconnect from email
for a few days, but if you would
like to send your condolences or
words of support, please post a
comment below.

Please know that I will read all
of your kind messages when I
re-emerge sometime next week.

Again, many thanks for your
support and prayers this past week.
Molly and I (and most importantly,
Maui) felt them. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.

Aloha,

James Jacobson

I'm sad for you. When I read the subject line of this e-mail...my heart truly pained. I know only time helps.... even though I don't post, I have followed and read all you've given to us, as readers. You've been a comfort and strength to me...and I'm sure many. You've helped me to 'love' better....and more freely...

I pray that you feel some comfort now.

Thank you for sharing.....James...and thank you for sharing Maui.

Jim and Molly when I read the news about Maui, I was not surprised but I was heartbroken. 3 years ago about 2-1/2 wks after Katrina our oldest, a 15-1/2 yr old chocolate lab lost his battle with cancer which was highly accelerated because of the stress of conditions at the time. We've always had numerous dogs and all but one lived a long, long, long and happy life, just a bit spoiled, but then again so are we to the companionship and love they give and gave. About a year before Katrina our 15-1/2 yr old Basset followed our 15 yr old dachshund to where we could not follow. He was deaf with age and she was blind, they were always together and did not leave each other's side until death parted them for a few months. Both fell victim to kidney failure. I could see the love you both hold for each other, JIm, and I could feel that great hurt. When I read of Maui's passing, I sat here and cried. I also gave thanks her troubles were now over.

I just wanted you to know you remain in my prayers and I can't even believe I am sitting here writing you. Prayer is my gift to you as you will definitely need time to catch your breath. I always seems to say "no more" and here I sit the proud human parent of four great creatures, all having been rescued from one thing or another. Oh, and after Katrina 2 abandoned cats have adopted me! Blessings await, when you are ready to bless yet again another one of God's wonderful creatures, LOVE, packaged inside the form of a warm, and fuzzy, tail wagging, kisses giving dog.

with deep sympathy,
gina

I am so deeply sorry about Maui. My Sparky is 14 and has congestive heart failure. So far he is doing well on medication. When other people loose their furry friends I get all choked up because some time I will be telling my special friend good-bye, too. I talked to my priest who says we will see them again someday. That gives me alot of consolation. Also, in the Orthodox history we have a Saint who could feed and talk to animals such as bears. His name is St. Seraphim of Sarov. Do a Google search and you can learn about him. I pray to him often to take care of my doggies. I will pray to him for Maui, too.

I'm glad you are taking some time off for yourself to be able to grieve without all the e-mail coming at you at this time. You will return when you are ready. You are a real inspiration for the love you have shown Maui and dedicating a website to him.

"Do You Remember Love" at this time? I know you do. Praying and thinking of you and your family and Maui....Diane in the Atlanta area.

Dear James and Molly,

My heart so goes out to you in your loss. I am glad that you have each other and all of your wonderful memories of Maui and her love to help you through this sad time. And you have all of us, who have benefited so greatly because you shared the love and inspiration Maui gave you with all of us. Now we share in your grief. I hope that is some comfort to you. Maui will be missed by SO many, but because you so generously shared her with us, she will live on in all our hearts. God bless you and give you strength and comfort.

Love and prayers (every night as we meditate together) from Jane and Rainier (the kelpy-lab)

I am so sorry for your loss. You and Maui and the awesome relationship you had helped me when I lost my bichon George on May 12th of this year (he would have been 16 yrs old on July 23rd). I've stayed off line since hearing how ill Maui was because she's become important to me. I believe that your capacity to love and your investment in the relationship you've had with Maui are a pretty good indicator of how much pain you are in without her. It will get easier but for now just know we all care and support you. There will never be another Maui and she gave so many people joy. Thank you for allowing us to share her with you and Molly. My heart hurts for you and Maui could not have had a better companion. Norma

I am so very sorry. It is so painful and I know the pain very well. I really believe that they stay with us in spirit and she will watch over you and take care of you now with as much love and devotion as you gave her.

Maui brought us together in this cyber community united by the love of a little dog. We have never met one another but at this moment, as we grieve her loss, we could not be closer. We have all felt the inexpressable pain of losing a four legged, furry bundle of love so our hearts are one with yours and Molly's tonight. But remember, Maui's love will reach back and provide solace. Keep your hearts open and be ready to receive her gift for I promise you that there is another little one out there somewhere who is preparing to come into your life, sent by Maui, to comfort and enrich your lives ... because so much love needs another to love. You'll see ... Maui will take care of everything. She was - and is - a magical being whose love still unites us all.

Dear James and Molly,
We are thinking of you in this very difficult time. You certainly will always have Maui with you in spirit and your relationship continues in this way for a while until you will be reunited once again as is a certainty. You did all you could and so much more for the beautiful Maui and she undoubtedly has many good memories to share with the other spirits as they are once again whole and healthy and wait for the time when you and all of us will be reunited forever more, in our real home where there is only love. May you find comfort in the knowledge that we all share a part of your pain as we did in your love. With much respect, AJ

James & Molly:

My sincerest sympathies on Maui's passing. I can see her now, running and jumping and enjoying life on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Please let her memories bring a smile to your face during the difficult days ahead. And take comfort in the large group of friends, two legged and four, that have shared in Maui's life. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Aloha

James, my condolences go out to you and Molly on Maui's passing. I know only too well what it is to lose a pet loved so dearly as I lost my Nanook's father just over four years ago. Nanook is now going through renal failure, diagnosed a year and a half ago and I don't look forward to the time he lets me know when it's his time to go. His medication and diet are helping for now. It saddens me to think we have such a short time with our pets, however, it is temporary until we meet with them again at Rainbow Bridge and can be with them forever. They are patient and will wait for us, just as they have in life. I wish to share a passage by Irving Townsend which I received when I lost Nanook's father, Pepi.
Fragile Circle
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."
