Maui has passed on...

It is with a heavy heart that I
am writing to let you know that
Maui passed away today.

I thank you and everyone in our
community who has kept us in
your thoughts and prayers these
past few days.

I know that Maui was a little
part of a lot of people's lives.

I am going to disconnect from email
for a few days, but if you would
like to send your condolences or
words of support, please post a
comment below.

Please know that I will read all
of your kind messages when I
re-emerge sometime next week.

Again, many thanks for your
support and prayers this past week.
Molly and I (and most importantly,
Maui) felt them. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.

I cried when I read you email. I felt your loss and my heart hurt so much. I know how hard it is to lose a family member, especially someone like Maui who completed you both so much, who loved you with all her heart just as you loved her and always will. There can never be a replacement for such a magnificent creature as she was. I felt as if I knew her so well. I thank you for that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Molly at this very sad time and I know Maui is with you now and forever.

God Blessed you with her, and God blessed her with you and Molly. Such love can not be destroyed, even by death. I am so sorry, so very sorry. Take care.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent. Their eager body quivers. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This just hit me real hard seeing the email of her passing and it took me right back to that emptyness in my gut. You are such a kind brave man James, please keep all faith that Maui is doing just fine now and surrounded by lots other nice doggies to keep her company till you meet again!!; ▶ Reply to This

Just seeing the number of replies, is a wittness to the love for you and the loss we all feel, but no one like you both. Maui touched many lives through you and we thank you and her. We now want to surround you with our love as you have done to us. Loss takes time to change into just memories, the pain is first. much love to you as you heal. I read your email and sat here at my desk and it broke my heart all over again, just as if it were Macy that I had lost. A hole in my heart is still there...nothing materially has ever replaced the love I shared with Macy. It's been over 3 years now and I still miss her. But.....the love she gave me for the 14 1/2 yrs I was blessed to have her in my life, LIVES ON! Maui's love will also LIVE ON in your heart and your life. It's hard to say Goodbye...I hope your Maui and my Macy keep each other company and play with happy hearts until we meet with them again someday. I have no words to say...beacuse all the people who have written their messages have expressed what I feel and what I think..however...I just can say that thanks to Maui, we have this community, thanks to Maui, we have this wonderful connection with dog lovers...thanks to Maui, we have a place to share, to grieve, to find, to search...for everything...
I'm completely sure that Maui, who I'm sure is in Rainbow Bridge, will be proud and happy to see her legacy..this site, growing and getting stronger...
