It is with a heavy heart that I
am writing to let you know that
Maui passed away today.
I thank you and everyone in our
community who has kept us in
your thoughts and prayers these
past few days.
I know that Maui was a little
part of a lot of people's lives.
I am going to disconnect from email
for a few days, but if you would
like to send your condolences or
words of support, please post a
comment below.
Please know that I will read all
of your kind messages when I
re-emerge sometime next week.
Again, many thanks for your
support and prayers this past week.
Molly and I (and most importantly,
Maui) felt them. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart.
My heart is heavy as I try to send words of comfort to you. Your messages and stories have helped with my understanding of the bond between Mookie and me. He is 13 and I cherish each day we have together. May you receive peace and comfort knowing we mourn and celebrate Maui with you.
I am so sorry for your loss. Maui is looking down on you, thanking you for the wonderful life you gave her, and also receiving your " thank you's," for the wonderful life you had with her. There will never be
another Maui, I know, but you will open your heart to another four pawed baby that Maui will send to you to help you through this loss.
There is an Indian legend which says:
" When a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into heaven. At the head of that bridge waits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based upon what they know of this person, decide which human may cross the bridge... and which are turned away."
James, you will cross that bridge, because Maui will be waiting for you on the other side.
I am so sorry to hear that Maui passed on but I hope she is with my Boodles in puppy heaven running and playing and having a wonderful time. Time is what it will take to get over the loss but we never forget. I still shed tears when I think of her and what she use to do. But good memories.
God Bless and help you at this time Jan
I am soooo sorry for your pain and loss. May GOD comfort you in your time of grief and saddness. I just got her video last week and what a sweetheart she was. I hope you continue your work. You and Maui have touched so many people. GOD bless.
I am so sorry for your loss. Maui is with so many other loves and smiling down on you right now. What a blessing to have shared a life with Maui. With peace and love, kw
My eyes and heart are both tearful. All of us who have prayed for Maui and for you know how deeply painful this loss is for you, and hope that our prayers will bring you comfort. I don't remember whether it was Andy Rooney or Will Rogers who said, "If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they went."
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I am broken to hear of Maui leaving us. As is sit with my 3 babies (2 on my lap 1 at my feet) I hold them tighter, and with all the love it my heart I send it to you. I have do you remember love as my screen saver, so i see Maui daily, she will live on in the video and in our hearts forever. I have loved your book and it has brought new life to the relationships with my dogs and my loved ones. Thank you for sharing your love and knowledge. Take care.
Oh James, My heart cries for you in this time of un-console-able sorrow.....Maui, your friend, your partner, your defender, your pet....you were Maui's life, love and leader....Maui was yours, faithful and true 'til the last heartbeat....We owe it to all our pets to be worthy of such devotion. Only one who has been in your place can truly know how deeply this hurts. The only comfort is in the knowledge that you will be together again some day and Maui is caring now for other loved ones who have gone before, just waiting for the instant that you meet again.
I, was so sorry to hear of Maui's passing. I, also lost my little maltese Gizmo last year on September 17th. He, was 14 yrs old and was our precious little buddy. Know, that we prayed for little Maui and she is now at the Rainbow Bridge and one day you will go to that bridge your eyes will meet and she will come running into your arms never to be apart agin. I, believe God has this place for us to be with our beloved pets.
Dear James & Molly, I`m so sorry for your loss. I can`t even find the words to say to you. I`m sure you are devastated. I am sending hugs & prayers to you both. Lois & Diamond
I hate so badly that you and Molly are having to go through the loss of such a special family member. Maui was special to all of us. But know that she is no longer in pain and now has the energy of a puppy, playing in the beautiful fields of flowers, just beyone the Rainbow Bridge. And I truly do believe that you will be rejoined when the time comes. Rest now and recover and then realize what a wonderful open heart you have and how much another of God's creatures will surely benefit from it in the future. Not a replacement for Maui; a new family member who wants and needs you, and all the love you can provide. I am praying this will become easier for you as the days pass. God bless Maui and all the special friends who have gone on before.
I DO remember love, and I'm sending LOADS OF LOVE to you, Maui & Molly right now!
I just found and watched the original video that brought me to you & Maui. And then (you will be happy to hear) I stopped working and snuggled with my sweet Casey for a while. I told Casey to send Maui lots of LOVE in Heaven!!! She's good at that.
I have followed Maui's story since that original video. I bought the book, "How to Meditate with your Dog", as well. (I had been doing that long before I read the book though!)
And I also have to tell you that I am certain Maui will be with you always. I am not normally a person who says 'certain' about that kind of thing. Things that are usually left to the realm of faith and the 'unknown'. But it was my dog, Chief, who taught me...after he died. He did stuff that no one could mistake...my husband saw it too. I was stubborn to believe right away that it really was him, so he kept it up until I knew--in no uncertain terms--that it was him visiting and letting me know he is OK. So, I hope in telling you this, it can help you to keep your eyes & heart open for Maui to show you she is OK. And she remembers your love...and STILL FEELS IT!
