About Me:
I am a graphic designer during most days & when I'm not at work I love adventures of all sorts - mt. biking, mt. climbing, kayaking, making stained glass creations, getting together with family & friends, & I esp. loved hanging out with my old dog!
My old girl, Chia passed away on 6/30/08. I miss her dearly!
Rest in Peace 10/11/92-6/30/08
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
Being a care-taker for an old dog was sometimes an emotionally draining experience but it was something I needed to do for my most beautiful, wonderful dog, Chia.

Hi Elsa,
I'm doing pretty good today (I feel like I'll always have this little shade of sadness since losing Chia) but…we must go on & keep the wonderful memories alive!
And, I know what you mean about leaving messages…I usually add a comment to your last message & I hope you'll find it. :)
I just read your discussion" Dog's Don't Have Souls, Do They?"…Very true & very sad! (I just had a "good" cry!)
I'm off for the day - I'm taking advantage of the sun that's peeking out there this morning - we're supposed to get more rain later! Rain, Rain, Rain…that's all we've been getting around here for some time. Oh well!
Give Oliver a pat from me!
Enjoy your weekend & I'll catch up with you next week.

Sarah, How are you doing? Today I am doing just fine. I get mixed up when I leave you a message. I think I left you a messge on your discussion Communicating with your Dog in the Afterlife. I started a new discussion about dog's having souls. I had read this some years ago and have it posted on my board here at work....I looked at it the other day and thought it was great so I included in a discussion. I cry everytime I read it......and I thought here I go again crying....but I think crying is good for the soul. Oliver and I have been doing just fine. I'm feeling better now. I guess its true with each day its somewhat better. We have to think positive..... Have a wonderful weekend. ; )
Hi Sarah,
I will look into that.
Thank you so much.
One thing that has helped me is that I found out ahead of time.
I was able to find a cremation service that does one animal at a time, instead of 50 and scoops in some ashes claiming it is your pet. Surprizingly about the same cost.
I do not own property, so planning what to do with his ashes has helped. If this would have happened suddenly I would have been lost. It is helping me grieve for him, and helping me get through the journey just a little easier.

Sarah, I've been visiting little Rio's grave every weekend. Placing flowers and just saying hello to my little guy. I should be getting the granite stone marker this week. I will then plant flowers on the site. Its been hard for me too. As long as I keep busy I seem to be doing fine.....but when my thoughts turn to Rio I become depressed and get teary eyed. I've been the same way when I wake in the morning...I always got up at 5am and went to the gym. Since Rio's passing my heart just isn't in it......I went to the gym on Saturday and brought Oliver with me. We've been hanging together : ) alot more. My plan was to go to the gym this morning....but I felt sad about Rio and just did not have the desire to workout. I want to start focusing on all the beautful times Rio and I had.....I'm sure Chia and Rio would want us to be happy. They are in a better place and not suffering. I received another sympathy card last week but instead of crying I smiled. I know its going to take awhile to get back to normal. However, we will always remember our Chia and Rio.....Take Care and may tomorrow be a better day.
