Annette, Thank you for the nice words. As I write Oliver is sleeping here in my office. You should see him when I grab my purse in the morning -he is ready to go to work ; )
I enjoy his company very much. I thought about my little Rio over Thanksgiving. Remembering all the fun he had feasting and dressing up. Its strange but on the 28th of each month I think of Rio. I think you know from reading all my stuff that he passed on June 28th. I still can't believe he is gone. Oliver has helped me so much the last five months. Having Oliver by my side has made a difference, as well as the support I have received from all my friends. Oliver ate a little too much turkey...no wonder he was so sleepy ! Hope you had a beautiful time with your babies.

Hi Annette, I thought about getting a friend for Oliver. But, Oliver has always been very independent ever since my boyfriend bought him 9 years ago. Oliver grieved for a week, never lost his appetite. Since Rio's passing in June, Oliver and I have been together 24/7. He is doing really fine. It will be Oliver and me for sometime. We have so much fun together at work, running errands etc. I always wanted to do the memorial and make Rio's gravesite as beautiful as can be. Rio deserves a beautiful resting place. It brings me comfort knowing that Rio's final resting place is beautiful and peaceful.

Thank you for being our friend : )
How are you doing with your Maltese babies? I am doing just fine with Oliver. Rio will always be in my heart and remembered but I am doing fine focusing all my loving attention to Oliver (who by the way loves it ! )

Annete, I too have a pet store (puppy mill) maltese. She is the larger of the two in the pictures. Her name iss Jesse MArie and she is the love of my life. We have an unspoken language between us. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Jesse has alway had different ailment since she was a puppy, And it wasn't until the day be fore she crashed and had a full blown addisons crisis did we know what was wrong with her. The Vets were GREAT! they brought her vback to life. God as always, had a major hand in her recovery. I remember when they told me that she may die, she was only 3 and my best friend. her heat rate wa s 30 sodium and potassium out of whack not urinating and to top it off pancreatitis. I called everyone on my cell phone and asked them to pray for Jesse and within 1/2 hour of doing so she started to come around....I can't imagine the heartache after loosing your sweet baby...but as you said someone has to love pupp y mill pups. they were brought into this worl under such cruel conditions, we have to spoil and love them to make up for that...thanks for e mailing me. Rita

Annette, thank you for the kind words. Some days are better and others are not. I try to remember the good, happy days with Rio and there were many. You are right 12 years is a long time...... I was very blessed to have Rio that long. Today I'm somewhat better. I should be getting Rio's granite stone marker this week. I am not too sure how I will react once it is placed on his grave. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Oh Annette! I'm so sorry that you lost your baby but I am glad that you've found another baby to rescue. And yes, ha, ha, ha, I sure can believe that 5 lbs. can rule a household! Mine's a little 14 pounder but she is the Princess! And, of course, all 7 of my Cockatiels play they part too!

Annette, Yes, Maltese Rule !
Your little ones are around the same age as mine. Any health problems? Rio who is 12 yrs old was diagnosed with doggie alzehmiers (pacing at night, getting stuck in furniture, forgetting housetraining). He is now on the medication Anipryl and it seems to do the trick in relieving the worst of the symptoms. He also has a touch of arthritis and at 9 yrs old was diagnosed with mitral valve disease (heart disease) His heart is stable now due to the meds he is taking. I look forward to your feedback....
