I was a pediatric nurse, know a lot about amputations unfortuneately. I became disabled about 8 years ago. Then the hospital got a teenage girl who had a very aggressive tumor in her foot. She has a below the knee amputation. I bring her up because she has been my son's girlfriend about 3 years now. She is now 21, she is a singer. She works for Make A Wish Foundation. If I figure out how I can show you her page and her beautiful songs.
My son was completely fine with her amputation, he had a best friend for years that was born without the tibia bone I think? So they had to amputate at birth. He had to get surgery every two years to keep his leg straight, and then a knob to turn and lengthen his bone daily. He was so scared of the hospital he would not go unless my son went along to LA to be with him. Then like clockwork my son had to go hold his hand while they turned the knob. He would come over and take off his prosthetic no problem. Becca, the girlfriend will never take off her leg, probably because it happened at such an influencial age. His friend was born this way and had no issues at all.
I am glad you have a good attitude about your leg. Becca still grieves over her leg, not as healthy.
You would never know looking at her.
To add friends, or invite it says I need to put in addresses, how do I do that?? So new at this.
Thank you Karin!:)
