Chloe is 16 years old and Bubba is 12 years old
What is your dog's breed? (If you have more than one dog, please list a name followed by breed.)
Both are Papillons
About Me:
Just learning to be as good as my dogs...to be worthy of the love I receive from them.
What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?
They each take their own instances to look deeply into my eyes and show me their joyfulness. It touches my heart so much and gets me to remember how much I love them and how much love they have brought into my life. They definitely connect me with a real feeling of LOVE and not just an intellectual idea of it.

Just read the most touching item.... here it is:
Ten Commandments for a Responsible Pet Owner

by: Debbie Wadkins

1- My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.
2-Give me time to understand what you want from me.
3-Place your trust in me; it is crucial for my well being.
4-Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you.
5-Talk to me even if I don't understand your words. I understand your voice and when it's speaking.
6-Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
7-Before you hit me, remember I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you, because I love you.
8-Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food; I've been out in the sun too long; or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9-Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old.
10-Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or, "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.

She then wrote:
"In my line of work, we see many different types of people and their pets. Over time I have learned many things of how the animal brain works. These "commandments" show a little bit of how a pet really does think/act. I especially see how the psyche works when people come in to drop off their pets for them to be euthanized. Some stick around and want to be present, some drop them off because they can't get away with shooting their pet in town. You'd all be amazed with the types of people I see....

Some may say that they are "just animals" and that they don't have souls or thoughts and have no afterlife. Ok, sure. My question is, if the "lamb can lay next to the lion" in heaven, why can't Fido sit next to me? That could be a long discussion in itself. I realize pets have very simple minds, which is very true. All they want is a little bit of food, water, shelter, and some lovin'. Isn't that what we all want??"

I (Janet) found this to be pretty interesting. I always knew these "commandments" even as a child. Bet most who post here did too.

Yes that is true; they are very sociable little creatures. Even my Bubba who was abused, is just a little lover. Chloe has always been outgoing and very confident.
